 * I checked error logs on a hacked site. If you visit, you only see a white page.
   Yet is gives this error in logs:
 * **[error]
    [Sat Jan 07 17:07:05 2017] [error] [client 1.2.3.4] PHP Parse error:
   syntax error, unexpected $end in /.com/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1635
 * If it errs in bringing up/writing to the database, yet they only visit the site
   and not posting, and the db or file weren’t hacked ….. why the error?

 * – The [Exploit Scanner](https://wordpress.org/plugins/exploit-scanner/) plugin
   can help detect damage so that it can be cleaned up. Other things you should
   do:
    - Change passwords for all users, especially Administrators and Editors.
    - If you upload files to your site via FTP, change your FTP password.
    - Re-install the latest version of WordPress.
    - Make sure all of your plugins and themes are up-to-date.
    - Update your [security keys](https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp- config.php#Security_Keys).
    - See FAQ [My Site Was Hacked](https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked).
 * – When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of [the recommended security measures](https://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress).
   –
   If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations
   that can clean your sites for you (e.g., Sucuri, Wordfence …).

 * It was hacked sixteen months ago. It’s on the list to delete, reinstall, add
   the custom theme and restore db.
 * I’m not posting about the hack. I’m just curious what users and search engines
   are doing to cause this error.
