• Alright, so I’ve uploaded everything in the wordpress zip file. I’ve opened the wb-config-sample.php file and coppied EXACTLY the db connection info for my server. I then upload it as wb-config.php and I delete to wp-config-sample.php file . I go to the /wp-admin/install.php as per instructions. Then I get a failed to connect to db error. I know the db is working because all the other db’s on the server are running fine.

    I’m stumpped. Help?

    Unless it’s a typo – that’s the problem: it should be wp-config.php with P not B!

Heh, yeah, typo in the post. It reads wp-config.php on the server.

What kind of site admin interface do you have? cPanel? other?
See here: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/ on the left under installation if any of those applies to you. If yes, read it 🙂

    found my error, all better!

Could you tell us what your error was? I’m having the same problem. The server is running and MySQL Administrator has no problem logging in, but WordPress can’t access the database. I get the error:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
