    Hi there,

I just imported my first custom fields, and the date in the CSV file is:

    1/05/2013 22:31
    1/05/2013 18:00
    1/05/2013 19:13
    1/05/2013 19:08
    1/05/2013 19:07
    1/05/2013 18:22
    1/05/2013 18:07

I’m in Australia so my timezone in my excel file might be different, however when I reopen the file after saving, it still has those exact dates above.

However, when I import the data into wordpress, they show up as the year 1970

    Ever encountered this?

I want to figure it out before I actually import posts, right now, I’m just importing custom fields so the date doesn’t matter (thank goodness) 🙂

    Question is:
1.) How can I make sure it’s posting the right date for each post/post type?

    Hi happyches

I just did a create import and a modify import with those dates and it
seems to still work ok for me…

The date conversion function usually only converts to 1970 when it can’t
parse the date. I assume you’re using the default column name
‘post_date’. After that, the next thing to look at is the raw text.
Excel automatically converts date fields. So try opening the CSV in
notepad or similar and just check there’s no unexpected characters.

If all else fails, change the date format to YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.
That’s the ‘native’ format that is stored in the DB and it’s also what
is exported (if you look using notepad).

Let me know how you go. If you can give me dashboard and FTP access,
then I could also take a look myself. Just contact me via my website so
    we can exchange details privately.

    Best wishes

    Paul
