 * I just set up a theme on my new blog, but for some reason the date is incorrect.
It’s showing December 31, 1969. I’ve looked everywhere to try and locate correcting,
   but need some guidance. Thanks.

 * First check the date on your webhost and make sure that date is correct. WP will
just pick up the server time.

 * Great…thanks…I see too that I can change the date myself within the post.

 * You surely can modify the “timestamp” of the post to your liking, but it is usually
best to get the server time set right and then use that to post.

 * I’m having a very strange problem in that when I save a post (unpublished) it
date stamps it December 31, 1969, but when I publish it the proper date appears
on the post. I noticed this happening today, coincidentally at the same time
as my ‘adsense’ button stopped inserting code into posts.
 * To see if the two issues are related I deactivated and then deleted ‘adsense’
plugin, the reinstalled and activated it. Still getting both the date problem
and ‘adsense’ isn’t working, even though it was fine when first installed.
 * All very confusing and I don’t know where to start re: troubleshooting.

 * If a date is showing as “December 31, 1969”, it has nothing to do with the server’s
time being REALLY off or anything like that.
 * WordPress and most other web software store date/times in a [Unix timestamp](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_timestamp),
or simply put, the number of seconds since January 1st, 1970 00:00, the Unix
epoch. December 31st, 1969 is happening because WordPress or whatnot is subtracting
a few hours to adjust for GMT offset.
 * characterdriven: first off, please create your own thread next time instead of
hijacking another thread. 😉 Your “issue” is not an issue at all. It’s “intended”.
Drafts do not get a post time until they are actually posted. Until they are,
they have a post time of “0”. Do not worry about it. 🙂
 * HollyM: are you still around and looking for a solution? If so, more details
are needed. Where are you seeing this date? In drafts? Or what?
