OK so I upgraded my wordpress site to 3.5 last night. When I went to the wp-admin area I got the message telling me to upgrade my database so I clicked the button to do so. This just took me to a page with the WordPress logo and no other activity. Every time I tried to access the admin area I got the same database upgrade page.
I tried many things like clearing browser history/cache, disabling plugins etc to no avail.
Finally I seemed to have solved the issue by examining the db_version entry in the wp_options table with the figure in version.php. They did not match so I edited the value in the database to match that of version.php.
This solved the problem and I can now access wp-admin but I want to know if this is a proper solution to the problem. Will I see further issues with future upgrades? If so what it the best practice to make sure this will work properly?
