# Database Update Required

 * My PostSMTP keeps complaining that it requires a database update, but there seem
   to be no way I can initiate this update from my side!
 * The only option available is to update for Fallback Support, which I do not use.
   If I proceed with this, then I get another notification to restore my previous
   settings which undo the Fallback support. Through all this the message that a
   database upgrade is needed stays at the top of my screen and it is driving me
   nuts!
 * Can anyone PLEASE help me to get this warning disabled?

 * Thanks for reporting this. We understand how frustrating it is to have the database
   update notice continuously displayed, especially when there doesn’t appear to
   be an appropriate action to take.
 * The notice you’re seeing is related to the 4.0.0-beta.1 build that was inadvertently
   distributed through the stable release channel. This was a pre-release build 
   and was not intended to be pushed to production.
 * There is no database update you need to perform for this issue, and you do not
   need to enable Fallback SMTP just to clear the notice.
 * We have now released Post SMTP 4.0.1 as the latest stable version. Please update
   to 4.0.1 when it becomes available in your WordPress dashboard. If 4.0.1 is not
   showing yet, please allow some time for the new release to propagate through 
   WordPress.org’s update system.
 * We apologize for the confusion and the persistent notification. We’ve corrected
   the release and are taking additional precautions to prevent a pre-release build
   from being distributed through the stable channel again.

 * The version number in the file postman-smtp.php in the distibution of version
   4.0.1 is still 3.9.5
