 * Due, I think, to a plugin conflict I was unable to access my WP admin – long
   story here!
 * I ended up deleting the folder containing all the WP site from the domain and
   reinstalling WordPress. I then imported a backup of my database using phpMyAdmin.
 * When I login to wp-admin I get the message:
 * > WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update
   > your database to the newest version.
 * After updating, I get
 * > Your WordPress database has been successfully updated!
 * When I click on “Continue” it brings me back to the prevous message.
 * Any ideas on how to get out of this loop?

 * Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s
   folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using
   [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management application
   your host provides.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder – from
   a **fresh** download of WordPress.
 * – re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php

 * Thanks for the advice. The WP folder is in public_html/myblog but when I look
   there I see that it has been renamed /myblog.bkp
 * I have renamed the themes folder and reset the plugins folder.
 * I’m not sure I understand the next step. By a fresh download of WordPress do
   you mean a new backup? How do I deselect the wp-content folder?

 * Nooo! No one suggested that you do that. Please re-read what I posted above.
 * > do you mean a new backup
 * No – a fresh copy of the WordPress core files.
 * > How do I deselect the wp-content folder?
 * By not uploading another copy of the wp-content folder.

 * I thought that meant rename the themes folder. What did you mean?
 * > No – a fresh copy of the WordPress core files.
 * How do I get that?
 * Sorry to be so obtuse – I’m not used to getting under the hood of WordPress!
   And I really appreciate your help.

 * Ah – I see what you mean by renaming the current theme’s folder – I misread it!
   Duh!

 * Still not clear about the WordPress core files. How do I get a fresh copy and
   where do I upload to? My guess is to the /myblog folder, but should I rename
   the /myblog.bkp first, since /myblog no longer exists?

 * See the big red Download button at the top of this page.
 * > where do I upload to
 * Wherever you originally installed WordPress to on your remote server.

 * I have done all that now, but am in the same loop.
    The wp-content contains plugins-
   >akismet, themes->twentyten-old, uploads (empty). The wp-admin and wp-includes
   were updated with the new download. I think I went through all the other steps
   correctly, but is there something I should check to be sure?

 * And where is the twentyeleven folder in wp-content/themes? If it’s not there,
   you need to re-upload a fresh copy of Twenty Eleven via FTP:

 * That would explain it. I think it’s OK now (fingers crossed!)
 * Thanks for your help.

 * I can now get in to my blog, but there are still 2 problems.
 * First, none of the images or widgets seem to be present.
 * Second, the last few posts and comments are missing.
 * I tried importing a more recent copy of the database, but it seems to have had
   no effect.
 * Any suggestions?
