Support » Plugin: SAM Pro (Free Edition) » Database Tables Overloaded

  • My web hosting has been deactivated due to a MySQL table running up to 975,000+ records within the wp_sam_stats table. Is there any way to properly clear these records and maintain the ad tracking?

I have a support topic open right now because SAM is super slow when accessing the ads places pages. My guess has been that this is database related.

    Hi @netzzjd ,
not sure if you’ve found this option yet, but in SAM under “Tools” there’s the “Reset Statistics” button with the following description: “Clearing statistics outside the keeping period. Use this button in case of problems with the automatic cleaning of the statistics table. The data within the keeping period specified by the plugin parameters will not be affected by this action.”

This might be the right option for you. On the other hand, I’ve tried running it because my wp_sam_stats table is 62 MiB and it appears to be stuck (doing nothing).

Yes, thank you. I just ran that tool today as well. I now have the setting to save the past year only versus all statistics data. The Reset Statistics button ran just fine for me within a few seconds and did seem to actually delete the correct old date records from the table. Mine went from 1 million rows to 500k at least. And I do think the records are legit impressions and clicks for all the ads. It just seems that this tool still needs to be run manually though and is not an automatic action unfortunately. I also wish I could look back at all ads run to get historical data without deleting the records altogether.

I also have recently been seeing the slowness described on all the admin Ad Places pages too. Takes about 30+ seconds to load each time.
