# Database Question

 * According to my web host, my WordPress site was changed into a phishing site 
   because I left too many permissions open in one of my directories. Anyway, I 
   re-uploaded all the directories back because they had been deleted but I cannot
   see any of my old posts. I know that WordPress is finding the old Database correctly
   because it added in the Blog name without me telling it anything, but none of
   the old posts are showing up. Is there any way I could check the database to 
   see if the posts are there? I think it should be because it’s about .92 MB which
   is larger than the other WordPress database I have.

 * Log onto your website at the host site (not WP) and use whatever your host provides,
   like myPHP or something, to sign into your database.

 * I’ve downloaded the Database, but I don’t know how I would check if my posts 
   are there or not.

 * You want to check it on the host site. If you don’t have the proper program a
   download will be useless.
 * Log into your hosted account, go to databases. There should be a “admin”. Go 
   there and open your data base. You will see tables one of which is called wp-
   posts. It should show how many “records” are there – those are your posts. You
   may be able to “browse” and in that case you will be able to read the posts.
 * Warning: DO NOT SCREW WITH ANYTHING ON THE DB

 * Ah, thank you. The posts are still there, but WordPress is not displaying them.
   What should I do?

 * Does it display current posts? Does it see posts in categories?

 * We are getting beyond my scope of understanding. You are not getting any db connection
   errors so it must have something to do with the table names as all you mention
   are in the tables.
 * Hopefully someone with db smarts will jump in here.
