# Database problems – Error establishing a database connection wp-config.php

 * Hello All!
    I am very new to wordpress and have encountered a problem that does
   not let me log into any part of my website. I use wordpress online and have never
   downloaded it to my computer. I spoke to my hosting about the problem I was receiving
   and they said that I have to change my password in my database through phpMyAdmin.
   This is straight forward enough however i am encountering problems when it comes
   to accessing my wp-config.php file. As I have never downloaded wordpress I do
   not know how to access the wp-config.php file, anyone know how I would go about
   this?

 * To edit your wp-config.php file, access your server via [FTP or SFTP](https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients)
   and edit the file with a [plain text editor](https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_Files#Text_Editors).

   no one exact standard method between all hosts.

 * I keep getting error message using firezilla.
    anyone know what the problem could
   be, this is the error message.

 * You’ll need to contact your hosting provider for help with that. You’re either
   attempting to connect to the wrong server, or you’re providing the wrong username/
   password, or your server is completely offline.
