Support » Plugin: Participants Database » “Database Permalinks” and “Directory Tools” Setup

  • Hello, I just purchased the Pretty Permalinks as suggested, but I noticed that it does not handle the links when I use the import csv function. I saw that it has the function “update all slugs” but as my files are very large, this function will not work correctly because every time the database will be large and it will give error.
Can not handle the links at the time of import?
I got the “Directory Tools” but I’m grateful it did not handle the imported data either.

  • EXPLAINING BETTER MY MESSAGE (I could not edit):

Hello, I just purchased the Pretty Permalinks as suggested, but I noticed that it does not manipulate the links when I use the “import CSV” function, I noticed that it has the “update all slugs” function but since my files are very large, this function will not work correctly because the whole send multiple files to the function will give error by overloading the server. Or will it only upload the slugs to the new imported records?
I bought the “Directory Tools” as well, but I’m worried that it will not work with the data imported by the csv file, I saw that it also has a “Proxy Posts for All Records” function, previous plugin.

The Directory Tools and Pretty Permalinks plugins do a similar thing as far as setting up a semantic URL for the record, but they each do it in a different way.

I recommend you do not use both plugins at the same time.

If you are using the Directory Tools plugin, there is a feature called “proxy posts” that creates a WP post for every PDB record. This proxy post provides the visibility to search spiders and also provides a semantic URL for the PDB record, using the usual method that WP uses to generate the URL.

There is a function that can generate a proxy post for all your records after you have uploaded them. It runs in the background, and in theory, it should not matter how many records you have.

This is also true of the “update all slugs” function for Pretty Permalinks.

However, it must be said that your circumstance it different, I have not tested extremely large data sets such as yours, so I can’t say what problems you will run in to.

I suggest you correspond with me by email at support@xnau.com if you want to get into more detail about supporting your use.
