  • Luckily I am running a backup plugin. I carefully tested adding and deleting a user before I deleted the admin user. Unfortunately, on the live run, I did not click the button to change all the posts over to the new user. I lost all the posts.

I was not sure how to restore the database so I just copy and pasted it in the SQL tab on phpMyAdmin. Looked OK until I noticed some odd characters. I dropped all the tables and this time imported the file. This cleaned up the odd characters, but I still have broken links to some (not all) of my photos. The caption and alt text is there, but no photos, just empty grey boxes.

What do I do now? Not even sure where to look.

  • My uploads 2009 directory had a folder for each month but all were empty. Luckily I found an old copy of that and ftp’d it to the site and the pictures are working. Making progress but I still have no idea what caused the problem.
