Database Error is Killing Comments – please help…

  • G’day,

    I’ve had a wordpress blog going for about 8 months without a problem. I’m using the Kubrick theme…

    Anyway, some time during last night (Australian time) somethng happened to the comments on every post in my blog. They’ve been replaced with this error:

    WordPress database error: [Can’t open file: ‘wp_comments.MYD’. (errno: 145)]
    SELECT * FROM wp_comments WHERE comment_post_ID = ‘142’ AND ( comment_approved = ‘1’ OR ( comment_author = ‘Matt Glover’ AND comment_author_email = ‘mkglover@optusnet.com.au’ AND comment_approved = ‘0’ ) ) ORDER BY comment_date

    If anybody could tell me what has gone wrong and how to fix it, that would be great. I’m not very techy, so forgive me if this is really simple…

    The blog is located at http://www.mattglover.com/wordpress/wordpress

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Send that error to your host – it’s a database file error which only they can fix. It’s not a huge problem though so no worries 🙂

    Thanks heaps for that. I’ll let you know what they say.

    Matt

    To fix this problem, all you need to do is repair your mysql table.

    use the same username and password and db name you have in your config file.

    mysql -u USERNAME -h HOST -p DBNAME
    enter your password and then:
    mysql> repair table wp_comments;

    …and thats it.
