How do I delete a post/page by editing my database?

I know I delete it from wp_posts but do I also need to make any other edits?

  • You don’t unless you know how to write a join query that correctly removes and updates the other tables that may have relational data for the given post.

Is there a particular reason you can’t you use the admin?

I installed the “WordPress Directory Links” plugin and it caused a server configuration error after I created a page within which to house the links directory. I can’t view my site, I can’t access the admin panel.

I’ve tried deleting the plugin’s files but that didn’t help.

Is there a way to turn off permalinks without accessing the admin panel? It might help if the problem is related to permalink settings.

Solved. Not quite sure where the problem originated but it seems to have been related to my htaccess file. Strange because I removed all but DirectorIndex index.php when the error first occurred and now it works after deleting all its contents, saving it then restoring the line DirectoryIndex index.php . One for my Mysteries Book.
