# Database Connection Error

 * Hey guys,
 * I’m building a WP site offline. It’s been working perfectly until today when 
   upon trying to access the site locally I got the error message “Error establishing
   a database connection.”
 * I did a bit of Googleing and saw that the most likely cause were errors in the
   wp-config file. However, I checked these and everything appears to be correct.
 * I did some more reaching but couldn’t find any other information on where the
   issue might be coming from. If anyone could help me out it would be REALLY appreciated.
 * I’m using Windows 7 and used Microsoft WebMatrix to install WordPress, however
   I also have XAMPP running Apache and MySQL.

 * Has XAMP definatly started? Check services.msc (if you running it as a service)
   or look for xampmanager.exe under processes in your task manager (if you are 
   running it as a process).
 * Even if it is running, it may be worth shutting it down and restarting it.
