We have correctly configured a GA4 property and previously linked a web data stream through the Site Kit plugin.

However, everytime we try to edit settings, the data stream we’ve created is not showing up, the only option available is to create a new one.

We have already double-checked permissions and the configuration of the data stream, everything is correct.

Hi @pasqualepuzio thanks for opening the support topic with us and sharing the screenshots. It looks from the final screenshot shared as though the Web Data Stream associated with that property has since been deleted. However, I can see from the second screenshot that this doesn’t look to be the case.

Please could you share the following information:

    1. Do you encounter the same when trying from an incognito browser?
    2. If you select to create a new data stream and go back to edit your data stream do you then see the one you have been looking for or just the newly created one?
    3. Are you the only user with access to the Google account that this property is in?

If you could also share your  Site Health information that would be great. You can use this form to share privately if preferred. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi, we’ve just sent you those information via the form. Thanks

@pasqualepuzio Thank you for sharing the information. Nothing stands out immediately from the information shared but could I ask you to create a new web data stream from your Analytics account in the same property and confirm if you can then select this from the Site Kit Analytics settings page?

You can also try disconnecting the Analytics module and Site Kit plugin and try the setup once more. Let me know if this makes any difference.

Hi @adamdunnage , unfortunately we’ve already tried to do that, more than once. We ended up having several data streams and not being able to select any of them. Right now we have 2 web data streams which we can’t select if we try to edit the settings.

@pasqualepuzio Can I ask if you have recently migrated your website or changed the domain/URL? If so it is possible that the saved records on the service are linked to the old site records.

    (@pasqualepuzio)

No we haven’t, we did perform a migration but that was a long time ago (years), way before installing SiteKit (a few months ago).

@pasqualepuzio Can I ask if you have yet tried a Site Kit reset? If you have not performed a reset is this something you could try? Please do be aware however that as stated in the guide, resetting Site Kit disconnects all users and removes all Site Kit settings, Dashboard Sharing settings and data within WordPress. After resetting, other administrators will need to go through the setup process again. Any users that have access to a view only dashboard will lose access to them.

Let me know how this goes and if you are unable to reset that’s no problem and we can continue to troubleshoot and continue to investigate.

@adamdunnage we tried to perform a reset and during the first setup we were able to select all data streams. However, after the first setup, the issue is back: now we can’t select any data stream, we can only create a new one.

@pasqualepuzio Thanks for confirming and sorry to hear that. Could I please ask you to capture this process you just followed with a recording?

You can use a service such as Loom to capture and share the video URL of this happening here. This may give us more insights into what might be happening.

@pasqualepuzio Just checking in to see if you’re still having troubles with your data stream ID in Site Kit?

    Thread Starter PasqualePuzio

    (@pasqualepuzio)

Hi @adamdunnage , sorry for the late reply but we’ve been quite busy. We still have the issue, however since it only affects us when we want to edit settings, right now we’re focusing on more critical stuff.

We’ll do our best to share a recording as soon as possible, however I’m afraid it won’t be very helpful as apparently there’s nothing wrong in the setup setup process. Everything is working just fine, the only problem is that if we try to edit settings AFTER the initial setup, the data stream ID isn’t selectable anymore.

@pasqualepuzio No problem at all and glad to hear that you are still able to use the plugin. I will await the further information if you can share it.
