Support » Plugin: Complianz - GDPR/CCPA Cookie Consent » Data security issue! Banner re-directs to http instead of https

I really like your plugin and already gave it 5 stars.

But I was always wondering why my login page is always http and declared as being “not secure” until I found out that this is connected to the appearance of the “cookie banner”. Everytime the banner appears my site is http.

I use the “floating right” option.

The appearing cookie banner by-passing https is a huge problem esspecially on a login-page where passwords are being entered – and esspecially for a plugin that is all about the data privacy topic.

Is there the possiblity for relativly fast fix? Because this is infact a real problem.

    Thx

    Hi @mgeuer2013,

Complianz GDPR does not do any redirects to http.

This sounds like you a caching issue, where possibly the site with cookie banner is cached as http. Clearing the cache often helps.

If you don’t have a .htaccess redirect to https, I would recommend enabling this. The .htaccess redirect ensures your site can only load over https. An easy way to do this is to enable Really Simple SSL, then enable the “.htaccess 301 redirect” option in settings/ssl.

Let me know if this helps!

Hi THX for the quick reply!!

I double checked everything .. cleared everything .. turned things (also Caching aso.) on and off.

And its infact gone. Sorry, you were right.

I thought I already did all of that but obviously not thoroughly enough. Maybe some cache “left overs” in the browser – from building the page – I honestly dont know.

My SSL worked fine – this really only happended when the consent-banner appeared – so i connected it to the banner. But it was probably cache.

Long story short … everything works fine now!!

    Thx 🙂
