Support » Plugin: WP Data Access » Data Projects link does not work properly

I have a MySQL database with 2 main tables. The “Master list” has titles of publications and the “Holdings” has a listing of all issues of the publications.

I want users to be able to view the listings so I used Data Projects and Data Templates to link the 2 tables. This works well on the first couple of pages. Users click on the Publication title and a listing of the issues is displayed.

There are about 100 publications. When the user gets to pages 5 and higher, clicking on the publication title brings up a prior page of the publication titles (Page 2,3 or 4). I changed the settings to display 100 titles in the report–and it works OK since the publication is on page 1.

I didn’t notice this problem before I downloaded the latest update.

    Hi @libraryruss,

Can you share a public link? And temporarily enable debug mode?

    Thanks,

Thanks for your quick response. I should tell you that I just found your plugin so I haven’t used it very long. It appears to be exactly what I was looking for, so if everything works I will be updating the subscription soon.

OK. I enabled the debug mode and published the page with the problem (even though it is not ready to go public). The URL is: https://nudistresearchlibrary.com/magazines/

Everything on page 1 works fine. If you go to page 5 and go to “SUN” magazine and click on the “View” icon, it will bring you backwards to page 4. Some of the magazine titles work OK (I think it is the empty ones), but most will do the same thing. It is inconsistent, so let me know what you think the problem may be.

    Hi @libraryruss,

Thanks for putting the form online. You can turn off debug mode.

I thought this was a publication. Sorry, my mistake! This looks like a data dependent issue. It is not possible to investigate this issue online. Can you mail me your project and tables? This allows me to debug your solution on my test server. You can use the contactform on the plugin website to mail me in private. I will reply with my email address which allows you to reply with the necessary files.

Although this should work with shortcode wpdadiehard, it might be a better idea to use the Data Publisher. The Data Publisher does not support relationships, but you can create master detail publications where the master publication calls the detail publication through a dynamic hyperlink. A working demo with instructions can be found here:
    https://wpdataaccess.com/demos/demos-data-publisher/data-publisher-detail-page-demo/

A demo of a premium solution can be found here:
    https://wpdataaccess.com/docs/documentation/data-forms/project-demo/
If you click on Student Administration and then on the view icon in one of the student rows, you get an overview of the student (master) and courses, grades and status (details).

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Peter,

I used the Data Publisher for books and it worked fine because it only used one table. It will not work for the magazines because it needs the relationships.

The example for Student Administration using the Premium Data Forms is what I need. So as soon as our board approves the expenditure I will sign us up. If this doesn’t work I will contact you again.

As a short term fix I increased the Default Pagination size to 110 in the front end. This puts everything on one page. So all the titles work correctly!
