Support » Plugin: PublishPress Permissions: Control User Access for Posts, Pages, Categories, Tags » Dashboard shows unwanted links after setting permissons

  • I’ve set Author role permissions and tried to follow the instructions in the video to Edit one specific page. When I login as an Author I see many unwanted/needed Dashboard links instead of the single “Page” link shown in the PP video. Some are for plugins but others are core WP links.
I’ve posted PP screens and the dashboard images on this page to provide information on setup and dashboard. Please let me know what I need to do to limit the dashboard links for Authors of specific pages.

There has to be some configuration issue or conflict with other plugin or theme code. Are you sure the user’s WP role does not have other supplemental permissions set via Permissions > Groups? If you have modified WP role capability definitions, confirm that the role in question does not have extra capabilities. Finally, many plugins will grant admin access based on role or a basic capability like edit_posts or edit_pages. If the latter, you will need to use a wp-admin customization plugin like Adminimize to hide the unwanted links.
