Dashboard Screen Options Not Functioning

Going nuts.
Dashboard > Screen Options > Show on screen:
I uncheck the box but the selection keeps coming back.

are you trying to remove one of the default metaboxes or one added by a plug in? Or does this happen if you try to remove any metabox from display?

plus a few others.All the above listed is preceded with a check box. I uncheck it, but it just comes back as checked.
I’ve tried to toss my cookies (clear browser data). I’m using Chromium not Chrome.
I can move a box from one column to another.
But I can’t get rid of the stuff I really don’t need nor want. I’ve spent so much time on this I’m just going to “accept” it 🙂
I would test using a different browser to rule that out – and if possible also on a different computer.
I would also test after deactivating all WordPress plugins to investigate whether there is one causing this.Yes, I’ll try different browsers first than move on to deactivating plugins.

I have this issue with 3.2.1 as well. I have tried multiple browsers and deactivated all plugins. When I uncheck the various dashboard options, they do not hide the widgets on the dashboard page.
I have something similar and cannot find a solution.
When ‘pages’ is selected from the dashboard I have somehow lost the page description and keywords columns and cannot find any method to recover them.
When I click ‘screen options’ all I get is what is already shown ‘title’ ‘author’ and ‘date’. No other options are available.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
