• Hi there,

I have read and tried much to fix this to no avail. domain1.com is the ‘mothership’ where wp multisite is running. I am on Godaddy deluxe with cPanel. I am setting up my first new site in the installation with domain2.com.

I can type in url domain2.com and it shows up fine – new blog is there – Hello World! I can also type in domain2.domain1.com and it shows up with just domain2.com in url window.

When I am logged in to domain1.com as Network admin and try to access dashboard for domain2.com it redirects to admin panel for domain1.com.

If I am logged in to domain1.com and put in url for domain2.com I go to domain2.com with admin strip on top that says domain2.com and drop down from there gives a dashboard option (showing preview link as domain2.com/wp-admin/) but that goes back to dashboard of domain1.com.

    Under http://domain1.com/wp-admin/network/site-info.php?id=2
for Site Address (URL) it is set to http://domain2.domain1.com

    Under http://domain1.com/wp-admin/network/site-settings.php?id=2
for Siteurl and home it says http://domain1.com – I assume this is where I change it to domain2.com but when I try to save changes it goes back to domain1.com. Database not taking change?

Under Domain Mapping config I have the server IP address and 1,3,4 checked.

I have the subdomains code in my htaccess file.

Lots of settings in lots of places! I have something wrong somewhere.

    I really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks,

    Will, Maine, USA

Solved! Unearthed this solution thanks to the pcraig3 advice to manually edit the database https://wordpress.org/support/topic/multisite-dashboard-link?replies=6

Please note that you need to make sure you are editing the url for your new site. If you are getting the problem I outline above you go to the wp_2x0somenumbers_2_options table rather than the options table further down that will not have the _2_ (or whatever your new site id is). You will see the name/tagline for your new site in that table if you have added it but it will have the url of your main site, not your new site. That’s what you change.

    thanks,

    Will
