I am trying to update my website and went to log in . I can log in, but my dashboard is wrong. The sidebar extends across the whole page and my content is below. I also get a message at the bottom of the page that says “Session expired. Please log in again. The login page will open in a new window. After logging in you can close it and return to this page.” But when I click the link and log in again I get the same thing. I have been looking at the forums and have tried multiple browsers and multiple computers with no luck. I also tried clearing my cash and my cookies. No luck. I don’t know that much about websites so really technical stuff doesn’t make sense to me…

Any ideas on what the problem is?

    Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

I tried some of these suggestions, but the methods are really beyond me. The weird thing is that I was able to logon today no problem and everything is back to normal. No idea what is up with that, but I am glad that everything is working.

    Thanks for the response!
