Support » Fixing WordPress » Dashboard not working

  • I’m not sure where I can check the current version of my wordpress, as nothing in the dashboard is functional.

I currently have a client running a WordPress site, and suddenly without warning and with no reason that I can understand, his website is no longer following the CSS (The site itself is, but the dashboard section is not). everything is appearing as an un-formatted list, and nothing is accessible. Though it states how many comments etc are available on the site, when you click “Comments” to read them it simply goes to the main page of the dashboard, with this un-formatted appearance.

This is a critical issue, and any assistance is greatly appreciated!

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

I cannot deactivate the plugins, or change the theme, as when I access the dashboards back end as stated in the initial post, pressing “Theme” or “Plugins” simply resets the page?

Is there another method? Also can the Theme as is be easily restored?

If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin.

You can switch to the default theme by renaming your theme, my theme old using ftp or by logging into your hosted account, http://www.fortailrottweilers.com/cpanel
