Hi, I have been trying to install and use a wordpress website, but I am having issues with loading the Dashboard, it does not load properly and when I click on any of the links I get an error, e.g. in the admin view clicking on the Post link gives this error.

    Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.bigbluemagic.com/wordpress/wp-admin/edit.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this web page later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfil the request.

I load the wordpress files to our hosted server through FTP(filezilla) and created the wp-config.php file using the wordpress setup-config.

If you need any more information please let me know, thank you for your help.

    Kind Regards
    Jing Jing Tao

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

We have tried to reload and reinstall a few times, even tried an older version of wordpress, but it still does not work.

We use FileZilla, but it fails to transfer all the files in one attempt and I have to upload the missing files separately, is there another FTP tool I could use, or is that not an issue?

    Thanks for your reply esmi.

The FTP isn’t an issue. I use Filezilla all of the time and, out of the box, it shouldn’t create any problems for WordPress. It could be a server problem. Have you spoken to your hosts about it?

Yes I have contacted the host(FastHosts) and they said:

You will need to examine the scripts and file structure to resolve this issue.

Assistance can be found on the WordPress Forums or support site at the following address : http://wordpress.org/support/

I’m not sure what that means, or what that requires me to do.

it fails to transfer all the files in one attempt

That sounds like a server or network issue to me. Why does Filezilla fail?

I’m not sure why it fails, when I transfer more than one file, it will just fail to transfer some of the files

    WORKING:
I just got it to work, the Dashboard is appearing properly. I just kept reloading the files like wp-admin. Might just be some of the files weren’t fully tranferring over. Oh well, thanks for you help anyway.
