• I recently updated my WordPress through GoDaddy. Ever since I did, I can’t log in to my dashboard. Everything on the site functions properly, but when I type in my username and password, I’m relocated to a “404 missing” page. On the admin dropdown, no matter what I click on, I’m directed to the same “404” page. I can’t access the dashboard, themes, plugins…nothing. I have tried renaming my plugin folder to deactivate them with no luck. Any thoughts?

  • Do not need support for a manual upgrade. I have been using WP for 7 years and love it! I will use filezilla and manually upgrade.

Are you using the BulletProof Security Plugin?

I had a similar issue and it’s caused by my .htaccess file not allowing the server to find the new JQuery file.

I’m using the BulletProof Security plugin, and even though I disabled the plugin, it leaves the .htaccess file full of “Bulletproofing”. When I changed the .htaccess file back to “Default Mode” and activated it, the JQuery error disappeared and the admin screen worked.

I’m not using BulletProof, if that comment was directed towards the original post. I did, however, solve the problem by reverting to 3.4.2 and restoring my latest backup. Everything is currently back to the operational status. I plan on testing a proxy site with 3.5 to see if I can track down the problem, or at least learn something in the process. Until I figure it out, I too will stick with 3.4.2. Thanks for all your help and comments. If anyone has more insight into 3.5, it would be great to hear that as things develop.

Folks, if you’re not kawzy, please make your own topic 🙂

kawzy – what’s in your .htaccess?

Own topic??? We are attempting to resolve this issue and the WP team can’t ignore the possibility that there is a colossal problem. 🙂

No one is ignoring any problems but your problem may not have the same cause or resolution as kawzy’s problem.

Think of it this way: you ask for help and instead of getting it other people ask and get help for their problem and leave you in a lurch. Not a comfortable scenarios right? 😉

Let’s be fair to kawzy and please start your own topic. it really helps us volunteers help you and others.

    You’re correct! 🙂

After I rolled back to the previous version, I ended up leaving the office for the day. I’ll check the .htaccess in the morning. As soon as I rolled back, things have been working smoothly. With my limited experience, I would guess it is a plugin not functioning properly, although my first move was to disable the plugins and it didn’t solve the issue. I also double checked that after the update, my index and SQL were still correct, but a I said I’m inexperienced. Is there something specific I should be looking for? I’m not familiar with what it should say.
