• I have frequent issues loading pages or dashboard sections. I’m getting 404 errors, it says the page is not available. This happens sometimes when using the links on pages, but more often it happens now with using anything from the dashboard menu. Like if I want to access Widgets or Pages, Plugins, etc.

I’ve seen it two ways, the 404 page comes up before the page even tries to stop loading, I can intercept it by clicking on the refresh browser icon. This, as usual, occurs when one hovers over the animated icon and the ‘X’ appears so you can click and stop the load on Chrome. So I stop the load, but I can reload and the page finishes and comes up almost right away. I have found out this happens even when I UPDATE a site page, the 404 comes up, but I tested the output by opening another browser window, and the page has really updated, so these issues are just that the target is not able to fully load back to me even if the action did complete with the server.

The other way is more rational, the browser just stops loading and I do the same refresh and it sometimes loads ok, but sometimes it keeps getting a 404.

These pages are there so it is not really a Not Found, it is working behind the screen but cannot seem to always load back to the screen. The oddest part is that the browser is still animating as if still loading the page.

I still get the “500” server errors but have increased the memory to 64Mb for WP. Still get them but a lot less. Not sure there is a connection yet.

Is this a server issue with our site or something we have? Hate to think it is a plugin, as it is infrequent. Sometimes happens all night.

I’ve scoured the web and forums for such things, but they mention page loads and no mention of WP areas you try to get from the dashboard menu items like Plugins, Pages, Appearance, etc.

    – Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
    – If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging
