I was editing a pop-up on a page when suddenly the dashboard was not available. All the pages come up but the dashboard link is not available. I can use back arrow to find dashboard again. I have removed the page with the pop-ups but it didn’t help. I rewrote the pop-up. No difference. What can I try and what might have happened? I can log-in again or use the back arrow. The pop-ups are on a SIGS page which I have removed. The pop-ups stopped working. Page has been been working fine prior to this.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thank you for responding. How do I manually reset a plugin – not from the dashboard? Should I assume the pop-up plugin is the culprit since I was updating a pop-up when the edit mode when beserk?

Should I delete the plugin and re-install? Please don’t abandon me.

The link in your first reply brought me to back to the reply here at the forum.

I don’t know what you mean by “manually reset plugins” without access to the dashboard. I

I deactivated the pop-up maker plugin. This restored the edit mode. I was able to move through the site normally. I could edit a page and go back to the site view without losing the edit mode. But of course I don ‘t have the pop-ups.

Should I delete the pop-up maker and re-install?

Visited first link. Can do both. I hesitate to tamper with the data base but option two is easy. BUT I have already determined that plug-in pop-maker is the culprit since deactivating it restored edit mode.

Now the problem is what to do about it. I can delete the plug-in and reinstall. That might just produce the same conditions as previous. I had just updated the plug-in so maybe installing a previous version of the plugin would resolve the issue. I have an older version of the plug-in on another WP site. Does it make sense to switch out the current plug-in folder with the previous version from the other site?

If you would just answer the last question, I’ll be grateful and be on my way. Thank you for the links. I suppose there are other options – switch themes, don’t use pop-us on SIGS page, find another plug-in …

    Thanks again.
