[resolved] HELP - Dashboard is Running Slow/Timing Out (3 posts)

I'm a graphic designer who has been thrust into maintaning/building our companies WordPress site. My technical skills pretty much stop at HTML and CSS. I know enough about PHP and beyond things to be dangerous.

The last couple of days, my dashboard has been running very slow (2+ minutes to load a new page or make an update) or timing out and booting me off before I can do anything.

    My website is http://www.swag-llc.com/

    My dashboard is at: http://www.swag-llc.com/wp-login.php

I have Googled for solutions and have so far tried:

    - Cleaning out my spam and trashed comments.

    - Downloading the latest updates for all of my plugins as well as WordPress itself (I'm on 3.4.1 as of now).

    - Deactivated all of my plugins using the instructions found here:

    - Gone through and fixed any database errors using the information supplied here:

    - Ran my website through SecuriCheck to see if it's clean http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/www.swag-llc.com/

    - Opened a support ticket with my web host (HostGator) mentioning everything that I have described above.

I am at a loss as to what to do next. My dashboard is still manifesting the same symptoms (slow and/or timing out on me).

Any thoughts on what might be causing my issues? Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

    A quick update.

I have tried reinstalling the WordPress update via the dashboard. It hasn't fixed my problem and I seem to have sprouted a NEW problem. Both of the logins that I have set for the dashboard now show NO pages! There are none in the pages menu and no posts or comments on the blog either. Yet when I load my website ( http://www.swag-llc.com/ ) the pages and blog posts are still there.

    Very puzzling.

Thanks for any help you guys and gals can provide.

Got it fixed! My host was able to track down what was causing the sluggishness.

    Here's their solution

The script is hanging when trying to make a remote connection:
    15763 17:48:11 connect(5, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(80), sin_addr=inet_addr("")}, 16) = -1 EINPROG
    RESS (Operation now in progress)
    15763 17:48:11 poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN|POLLOUT|POLLERR|POLLHUP}], 1, 30000) = 0 (Timeout)
    15763 17:48:41 fcntl(5, F_SETFL, O_RDWR) = 0

The is immediately after a significant amount of information is retrieved from the database for the Curvo theme. I then found that disabling the checkbox "Check for theme updates" in the Curvo theme settings corrected this issue.

So it was an issue with the Theme I had installed. Good to know and I hope this helps others out.
