Dashboard in Sitemap view

    I am working with WordPress through MAMP on a mac locally on my computer – Using Safari 6.0.2

    As a novice, I have managed to install WordPress and upload my new theme.

    Whenever I attempt to change anything about the appearance of the page using the menu bar on the side in appearance (i.e.: Theme options) it takes me back to the site map menu for the dashboard, and I am unable to make those changes.

    Please can anyone let me now what step I have missed to get the dashboard working properly.
