Cycle lite out of position in IE

I have cycle lite slideshow working on 2 pages and doing fine in all browsers except IE.

My home page slideshow is in a widget area. In IE 8 and IE 9, there’s a 20px gap between the container and the slideshow. In IE6 it’s fine.

On another page, the I used the shortcode and it works fine in IE 8 and IE 9 but makes a mess (extends a box) in IE6.

I am brand new to WordPress. My gut tells me to drop the widget area on the home page but this is really slow going for me and I think perhaps, there is an easier fix. BIG thanks.
