Support » Plugin: Display Posts Shortcode » Cutting off content after a certain number of characters

I have a client who is using a widget to display excerpts of posts (catchy intros) on her sidebar.

To do that, she must use excerpts.

So we can’t use excerpts for the “display custom post” code/list of posts on the page. We don’t want the catchy phrases displayed there.

I have used [display-posts include_content=”true”] but of course the full content displays (including post images unfortunately) and some of the posts are quite long.

Is there a way to limit the number of characters displayed? I have tried to use the “more tag” (<!–more–>) but it does not work.

Any suggestions/hints are appreciated, I will gladly test them.

    Thanks in advance 🙂

Unfortunately no. The <!–more–> tag only works on archive pages. So if you’re including this shortcode in a post or page, the more tag won’t work.
