  • Resolved LaBella

    Hi there!
    I am kinda stumped right now trying to add a tag to my index file. I edited the <?php the_content(); ?> tag to display a certain amout of words.

    I used this tag instead:
    <?php the_content_rss(”, TRUE, ”, 150); ?>

    Which I’m happy with except I don’t want the “more..” tag to disappear. Because the comments link automatically skips them to the comments section and if I have more text for them to read, they might miss it because there is no “more..” text displayed on the front. Does that make sense? I hope so. LOL!

    How can I make it display while still keeping my amount of words to a set limit?

    Thanks for the help in advance!

  • Well, if you don’t need to do this automatically you can manually stick ‘<!–more–>’ in your post. You may have already known this… but I went a LONG time without that little piece of knowledge… and I, like it sounds you are doing, was writing all kinds of special php functionality to display so many characters (which broke the style half the time) and it was a migrain!

    Hi there!
    Yeah… actually I did know that. And I am using it in all my posts but it won’t display (more…) on the main entry on the front page so that readers know that there is more to read in the entry! lol You know what I mean?

    Thanks for the help though!

    View your page source and find out if maybe your style is hiding the more link.

    Fyi, in IE your main content gets pushed below your sidebar.

    I see the more link, in pink!

    *hehe* Thanks guys! Actually a friend was kind enough to point me in the right direction.

    I used the excerpt reloaded plugin here:

    That fixed my problem!

    Pink rawcks! LOL
