After further testing, I have found that the search is filtering posts by the search term and showing the teasers for the matching posts in a posts section of the homepage. This was only visible after I coincidentally added a post section to the homepage.
So, the bigger question is why can’t we have a standard search box that searches all content on the site and directs to a search results page? Was it designed to filter posts on the homepage only? Or is something not working right in my installation? If it was designed this way, is there a compatible plugin or other solution that would provide a site search without breaking the theme?

After updating to the brand new Customizr Pro version 2.1.16, this problem has resolved. I am not sure what was fixed, but it could have been a bug with Nimble Builder content sections on the homepage being applied to other pages out of context. Thank you to the developers for updating the theme (even if you didn’t reply to this support request).
OK thanks for the update. Not sure either what could be the problem because no specific fix has been implemented for that.
