Customizr
[resolved] Customizr Child Theme settings ignored (9 posts)

    I have used child themes on a number of other sites without any problems. I downloaded, installed and activated the Customizr Child Theme without any problems and everything is working EXCEPT:

    The CSS pasted into the child theme styles.css do not take effect. The ONLY way I can modify the CSS is to use the Customiz'It! "Custom CSS" box, which is VERY small, but it works. If I move the CSS from the box to the child theme, it does not work.

    I have no idea what I wrong. The good news is that everything works perfectly otherwise.

    (I did not provide a link because the site is not publicly viewable yet --- and it's otherwise working fine.)

    Having the same problem. Seems that since the css settings are not in a styles.css files, but instead in the css files under
    customizr > inc > css,
    the child theme doesn't work as in themes that have a 'normal' styles.css file. Our colors are greens and blues, so I took the green.css file and am modifying it, then saving it in the inc folder as red.css (I know we won't use the red theme). Then in the theme customization panel, under Skins, I changed the skin to red. It works. I don't like it, but it works for now. I'll go back and try to find a more appropriate fix later when I have more time.
    BTW, I did try to duplicate the file structure under my child theme:
    customizr-child > inc > css > green.css
    ...but this did not work....

    @archerdata: could you paste your child theme's style.css here (in backticks)?

    @Spinuzzi you should set up a child theme and modify styles in there (which will then overwrite the theme's styles). Don't modify the <color>.css stylesheets, as they will be overwritten when you upgrade. If you have further questions, please post in a new thread.

    Your CSS is being picked up, but it's being overwritten by inline styling, which includes the following:

    body {
        background-color: #CCCCCC;
        color: #000000;
        font-family: Georgia,Gentium,serif;
        font-size: 15pt;
        line-height: 1.5em;
    }

    Here's the update with the code moved from the Custom CSS box to the child theme:

    Okay, I'm officially flummoxed. I cannot figure out why it did not work before. The Custom CSS box is empty and the code was moved to the child theme ... and it seems to work.

    I am sorry to waste your time on a non-issue, but I appreciate your help and patience.

    Don't worry; it happens to us all. Posting on the WordPress forum shakes up the time-space continuum and takes you into a parallel universe where you never made the mistake in the first place :-)
