Support » Theme: Customizr » Customizr Child Theme CSS not working???

  • Hello I am new to WP and using the Customizr theme because of all I researched enjoyed this one the most. I have loaded the Child theme and added the snippet to change the header background in the css file of the child theme as shown below but it doesn’t do anything?

    When I place the same code in the Custom CSS section it does work but not when I use it in the Child Theme css file.

    What am I doing wrong please?

    Thank you

    /*start of header*/ {
    background-color: #0288d1;
    border: 10px 10px solid white;
    border-top: 5px solid white;
    border-bottom: 5px solid white;
    /* end of header */

  • Hi,

    You can try adding !important css selector to your css code.!important_exception

    Thank you

    Thanks Denzel I appreciate the suggestion however my key question or what I’m trying to understand is how to ensure my CSS file in the Child Theme is actually having an impact on the site and working.

    I am guessing based on your suggestion that if !important is in the core file and my child css doesn’t then I guess the core file css is followed?

    Again, still learning and interpreting … really hoping someone can clear up for me why css put in the child themes css file isn’t having an impact on the site.

    It is recommended by theme owner to do css changes in child theme so I created one but I’m not seeing any benefit to doing so hoping someone can offer further insight.

    Thanks again Denzel I appreciate you taking the time to point me in one direction.

    Yes, it’s recommended to use a child theme to override styles in Customizr Theme.

    You need to be able to write the correct css codes to override the styles in parent theme, in order for the changes to show up on your website. This requires in depth knowledge in css, which I am afraid it’s not possible to discuss in a forum thread.

    Other things to look out for are cache plugin or serve cache ( if you are using them ) as well as browser history. You need to clear them in order for your website to show updated changes.

    Thank you
