 * Is there any hack or plugin that lets me pre-define text styles in the visual
   editor?
 * As the site builder, I’d like to prepare some bespoke styles so that once I handover
the site to the content manager, it will be very clear how to reproduce certain
text styles: simply choose from the styles already there in the drop-down menu.
These custom styles would have descriptive nicknames that make sense in the context
of this project. For example, in a site that does tables of contents for magazines,
instead of “Heading 1”, “Heading 2”, and “Heading 3”, the content manager would
simply choose “Author Name”, “Article Title”, “Slug”.

 * I have found this article that shows you how to create new buttons on the admin.
So far I have managed to create a new button on the HTML editor but not the visual
   editor.

 * I managed to get something very close to what I was after. The TinyMCE Advanced
plugin lets you place a “Styles” dropdown on the visual editor, which displays
all the CSS classes you’ve defined on your site. This worked well in my current
project as I had used “human friendly” descriptive names for the CSS. Check it
   out:
