  • My website is and I have a couple questions regarding customizing the banner…

    1. First off, how do I add a single blank space between the banner and the line above it? I realize it’s a simple request, but i can’t figure out what the coding is, and where to put the coding to separate the banner and the line above it.

    2. I also need to change the dimensions of the banner. Where do I add the dimensions within the php and what coding do I use for expanding these dimensions.

    3. How do I make it so the banner is embedded with a link to the home page? I know it’s in header.php, but i can’t figure out the code and placement of the code.

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Edit style.css and add something like margin-top:10px; to:

    #banner-custom {
        background: url("") no-repeat center center;
        border: 10px solid #000000;
        height: 230px;
        margin-bottom: 20px;
        width: 530px;

    2. The same block of CSS defines the height (230px). There’s no defined header width but it might be worth bearing in mind that your page content block and the block above the header image are both only 790px wide.

    3. See this Codex entry.

    Thanks Esmi, much appreciated. I don’t know why, but i really cannot figure out this whole banner=home deal. I have tried placing the code (provided by the link you gave me) and replacing it with what it told me, and it doesn’t work. …Is there any way you can show me with my coding? Sorry!

    We cant see yr php files of course. If u want us too u can post them in the
    Pastebin so we can read them. A bit daunting for a newbie but u unlock access to much more support if u can manage it.

    Can someone help me make the banner a link to my home page? The header.php is provided in the link above.
