[Resolved] Customizing default sidebar widgets

  • I’d like to customize the default sidebar widgets like this (link).
    I want the black background (FAVSITES) to grow vertically with the content of the list on right. It would be no problem with a table but I’ve no idea where to implement the code.

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Implement it using CSS. There are different ways to approach this. If your whole sidebar has the black left border with the pastel background then create an image and repeat it vertically

    #sidebar { background: #eeeeee url(images/black_bg.gif) left top repeat-y; }

    Then for the text image that appears like FAVSITES, create an image and hook it to specific ul, e.g.

    ul.links { background: transparent url(images/favsites.gif) left top no-repear; }

    I have three different lists in my (widgetized) sidebar and a flickr-widget. Every widget should get it’s own border and text-image (not the whole sidebar). My problem is that I don’t know how to tell WordPress which image to use for a specific widget/ul.

    Site URL? Got to see some source code of generated widgets in side bar.

    For the default Link-widget I used your solution.

    For the widgets “Quick-Flickr” and “Wickett-Twitter” I found a similar solution.

    If anyone needs help with this problem just write a reply!

    Thanks mercime!
