Support » Theme: OceanWP » CUSTOMIZER TAKES 12 SECONDS TO LOAD??

Hi, I’m on Broadband 150 internet. At home. Wired, not wi-fi. Core i7 with 24GB RAM. Building a site for a client and attracted to Ocean.

After install, I realized Ocean’s customizer screen takes an average of 12 seconds to open. Yu mentioned somewhere we could disable sections in the “Theme Panel” to speed things up.

1- Where can these sections be found to select those I don’t need?

As for support, you write that “FREE” users may NOT get support here. But think about it: why would I want to buy PRO (to get better support) if the FREE version customizer (the heart and soul of the theme) is already choking the loading time? Why buy a PRO version which has “more” features, slowing it down even more?

If I’m wrong, please correct me, but that doesn’t really make logical sense to me right now.

Thank you for your attention to this question.

    Regards,

    Andre

Hello, yes, I’m aware of this problem, unfortunately, there is nothing I can do, more options I add to the customizer to allows users to do what they want, more the customizer will be slow. To disable the sections, it is via your dashboard, click Theme Panel, you will see the customizer sections. For example, if you don’t use the Top Bar, you can disable this section, that will improve the customizer loading time.

Thank you for the quick reply, I do hope you find a code cleaner because otherwise the theme is very promising! Although I always use the TOP BAR when I edit the site. I don’t see what other options could be removed at this point.

Finally, I am using a slider plugin, but I don’t see where I can insert the shortcode for the header. Could you direct me to this information?

    Many thanks,

    Andre

Do you want to add a shortcode after the header?
Edit your page, click the Shortcodes tab in OceanWP Settings and add your shortcode after the header setting.

OK thanks, I found the information on your site, actually, as it requires the installation of one of your (free)plugin. So here it is for anyone else looking for this:

“Add a shortcode slider in a page
You can add your shortcodes slider or whatever you want just below the header.

First, install and activate the recommended plugin Ocean Extra.

Then, edit your page and add your shortcode in the Shortcode field in Ocean Settings.”

Thanks! I’m surprised, pleasantly so. So I’m playing around now with Ocean Extra to customize the look and feel.

Regards and congrats on a great theme so far!
