I'm using WP to create a customized website. It's not going to look like a blog. Therefore I'd like to take out the date, author, category and comment listings. I don't care if the function remains, I just don't want it to show up.

How can I either remove the function or hide it?

  2. details depend on the theme you are using.

there quite a few topics in this forum about removing these items from a site - try forum search and see if you can find something.

also, edit all template files of your theme and have a look - the functions are named quite self-explanatory, such as the_date(), the_author(), the_category(), comments_popup_link(), comments_tempalte() etc or similar.

Thanks for the good start - that's what I was lacking, knowing where to start or what to search for in the forums.

I'm using TwentyTen as my base.

Don't edit the Twenty Ten theme. Instead create a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

Thanks. Problem is already solved at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/remove-categories-and-comments-from-blog-completely?replies=2

And, yes, I had already created a child theme. Definitely the way to go.

    Thanks again.
