[Resolved] Customize the Login Screen

  • I’m relatively new to all this, so I’m not even sure if this is possible, but is there any way to customize the login/register/ Log Password screens to use your theme and, more specifically, change the WordPress logo to my sites logo. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  • I’ve never done this myself, but, I suppose one could alter some of the HTML markup and the stylesheet references in wp-login.php, that would be the markup between <html> and </html>. There’s some raw function code in there not between HTML markup (sorry to the programmers for my poor terminology), so, caution is warranted. Also, if I was going to do this, I’d keep a backup file of your changes somewhere, as well as the original, unchanged file, since a mistake on your part or an update to WordPress could overwrite the file and (I’m guessing here) cause login and/or other site issues.

MJ, you may want to take a look at this thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/38209

it can be done very nicely, MarcJeremy, All my login, registration, lost password pages are customized, and once logged in, the blog menu even refreshes to show you that it worked. I use 2 pages for each actually, on for js enabled browsers, one for non-js.

If you want to see what I mean, its http://www.village-idiot.org

the css you need to play with is inside wp-admin.css

The main page refreshing once logged in took a little bit of creativeness but think it makes for a very nice effect (if youre using a js enabled browser).

Thanks for the help everyone. I’m finding it all useful. Of course, now the fun really begins!
