I host multiple WordPress sites, each in its own folder, and with a new one I am now facing a major problem.

When logged into wp-admin, if I click on the Customize link (located under Appearance), the page begins to load; I can see the Customize menu on the left and live preview starts to appear on the right, and then the entire customize.php page reloads…and reloads…and reloads.

In trying to fix this issue, I’ve tried:

    (1) Deleting the “Customizr” theme entirely and reinstalling it. Problem remained.

    (2) Deleting the customize.php file and creating a new one (using a customize.php from another one of my working sites.)

    (3) Re-installing WordPress 3.7.1 … problem remained.

    (4) Tried accessing site through different browsers… problem remains.

    (5) Creating a whole new host directory, installing WordPress from scratch into new directory, creating a new version of the website and trying the link again (with default Twenty Thirteen theme activated)…Customizr theme not even installed… *SIGH* Problem remains.

    (6) Tried accessing admin’s customize.php page from a totally different computer! Problem remains.

    (7) Had GoDaddy technicians run diagnostics on my server. Everything passed. Problem remains… They sent me here.

    PLEASE help… anyone?

NEVER MIND! After hours of troubleshooting, I discovered a post buried on this site that suggested installing an old theme (Twenty Eleven).

So I deactivated all of my plug-ins first (just in case) and then installed & actived Twenty Eleven. Clicked the Customize link, and it worked. I’ve no freaking idea why it worked, but it did. I’ve now reactivated my preferred theme, and it’s still working…

Will slowly reinstate my plug-ins, but at least for now a crisis has been averted.

Thanks to the person who posted that remark about Twenty Eleven!

PS. One final note… As I began reactivating my plug-ins, one caused the problem to start all over again. That plug-in was WP-Copyright-Protection. When I deactivated it once more…all was as it should be.

It’s disheartening that it took so long to figure this out.

I simply post my experiences here in the hopes that it’ll help someone else someday.

You saved me hours of heartache!!!

WP-Copyright-Protection doing exactly the same for me. De-activated and Customize working fine. Will log this with plugin developer.

    Thanks bcbloyd!!
