Customize: Only Widgets Appear

I have run into a problem with the customize function of WordPress. Whereas before the customize interface allowed me to customize a great range of things, now it only displays an option for widgets. This happened after I changed the settings under “Blog” and then “Blog Entries” to make posts on the homepage display the username of the author (I simply clicked the eye symbol next to “Author” and hit publish). Please advise.
