• Hello,

I’d like to know how to customize my posts so that they appear on the homepage of the blog like on this site: http://slamxhype.com/

Basicly : On the homepage, each post has an image on the left, and title, info and text on the right.

I would like to know how to do this layout, and how to limit the text on the right to a certain amount of characters (without using the “more” system).

    thanks.

  • Hi,

Recently I’ve been searching for forums, wordpress website and so on.
It’s about how a post on a blog appears, how it’s layed out in the homepage
and then how it’s different once you click on it and watch the full feature.

Found below 3 examples of what I’m talking about:
    http://slamxhype.com
    http://hypebeast.com
    http://www.freshnessmag.com

My question is how to modify a temple to do this. Of course there’s going
to be CSS involved, but what else, plugins? See how on Freshness, the image
on the homepage is cropped, then when you read the full story you get the original
    size and shape.

    Basicly, how to:

    – Layout your post preview on the homepage, with a fixed sized image
on the left then title, info and first few lines on the right

    – Limit the size of the text on the preview and put a button “read more”
instead of using WordPress’s own “read more” tag that you must apply manually
    when creating your post.

    – Layout the full story with a different CSS than the preview.
See how on Slamxhype.com they have a rollover black on the preview page (homepage)
then the full story has a different CSS.

    – How to have the pereview image sized and cropped to a certain size
then full size on the post.

Let’s talk about this, I’m sure it’d benefit alot of designers out there.

    Thanks.
