I have been having problems with one of the major event-calendar plugins integrating properly with my theme. I tried your plugin and integrates seamlessly! So I’m very interested in using it. However, I could really use a Location field that is separate from the Description field. Is there a way to accomplish this?

I also need Front End Submissions and am prepared to donate to acquire your Bonus Add-Ons to secure that functionality, but need to have this extra field if at all possible.

At this time there is no separate location field. I am open to suggestions and would be happy to add a Location field to the basic plugin in the next release.

Actually I know another user is using Category for Location, so that is another possibility for you.

Thank you for the very quick reply. In my specific case, the site is for a statewide organization, and the events will be hosted by individual members all around the state. Event sites would be impossible to determine ahead of time, for creating categories, and I potentially would need over 1000 so categories would not be efficient anyway. Just one additional text field would be great.

In a perfect world, the Location field would accept an address that could be then mapped.

In a more realistic world, I’d be happy with a second text box, set up exactly the same as the existing Event Description, that then would be displayed immediately below the Event Description. Call them Description 1 and Description 2 and let individual sites utilize these areas in whatever way makes sense for them. It wouldn’t have to be a “Location” field, just an additional text field. Would that be a possibility?

Instead of a second text box, I wonder if you use the existing description field, with a spacer between the event description and the location address?

    Something like:

This is the event description. It contains details about the event.

Of course. The problem is that I plan to use front end submissions and would like to standardize the display/output. Giving the users separate “description” and “location” boxes, preferably wrapped in separate <span> tags in the front end, would allow me to format the popup in a consistent way.

I really appreciate your prompt responses. I’m trying to finish up a site that unfortunately has a conflict between the theme and the original event calendar plugin I planned to use. Yours works out of the box and it’s close to what I need, I’d just like a bit more structure.

I would prefer to add a specific Location field rather than a second description. That would be a more attractive feature going forward as I link to maps, etc.

I agree. Just wanted to offer an alternative that would be less time consuming. But an actual Location field, or group of fields to include street address, city, state/province and postal code, would be perfect. The ability to create a map would be super. Thanks again for your time!

I should have a release ready next week, that includes a new Location field as well as other improvements I am working on.

This is great news! I appreciate the time you’re taking to address my issue. I’m sure a Location field will be useful to many others as well. Thank you!
