Hi @swany
Thanks for reaching out.
I’m not sure what the problem is right away. You could start by deleting Twenty Seventeen, perhaps it’s partially installed. You can delete it from Appearance > Themes
. If you’ve done that and the error persists then you can delete the folder on your server at /wp-content/themes/. If possible, please, include a link to your site in support threads. Thanks.
With regards to item 2. Have you edited footer.php? If so, you can restore from the original here: https://themes.svn.wordpress.org/ultra/1.1.8/footer.php. If you are editing theme files, please, keep in mind that you should use a child theme. When WordPress themes and plugins update they completely overwrite their own folder. If you directly edit files and then we release a theme update and you run that update, all of your code edits will be lost.
If you’re new to child themes, you can about them here: https://purothemes.com/documentation/general-wordpress/creating-child-theme/.
You can download a starter child theme for Ultra here: https://puro-4401.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/ultra-child.zip

Andrew, I tried all your suggestions but they didn’t work. Twenty Seventeen was not installed and the footer code was the same.
I did go sniffing around the inc/settings.php file looking for those errors that showed up when I ran Theme Check. Maybe I did something to the file.
Here’s the temp website http://snipsandclipsgrooming.com/

Thanks for your feedback.
To confirm, there are no problems in the results of Theme Check, those are just informational messages. When Theme Check reports an error, it will do with an error message.
I’d suggest troubleshooting as follows:
1. Deactivate all plugins at once. Does the issue persist with all plugins deactivated?
2. Assuming you haven’t modified any theme files at a code level, reinstall the theme. Go to Appearance > Themes and switch to any other theme, delete Ultra and reinstall it.
Only move onto 2 if 1 doesn’t produce a change. Let me know how it goes.
With regards to the Twenty Seventeen issue. Can you confirm that you’ve also checked your server? You’d need to login using FTP or your hosting File Manager and go to the /wp-content/themes folder to check.

I deactivated the plug-ins but the problem is still there. I deleted Ultra & changed the theme to another one but the Customization link still displays the Twenty Seventeen error with the new theme. I then re-installed & activated the Ultra theme then tested the customization link again but it still displays the Twenty Seventeen error but the edit menu in the black top bar showed back up. I then re-activated all the plug-ins with the re-installed Ultra theme and the Customization error still persists & even the Customization link in the top black bar does the same thing.
I re-checked the themes folder again and there is no reference to the Twenty Seventeen theme.
Footer Issue:
Do you have widgets added to Appearance > Widgets > Footer?
On each page, if you edit the page and check Page Settings in the right column, is Footer Widgets enabled?
Customizer Issue
I’m a bit short on time today and not sure what the issue is. Can you perhaps reach out to me via a new forum post on https://purothemes.com/support/ so we can investigate further with login details.

I have the main menu added to the footer widget but do not have the “footer widgets” enabled on each page. The footers seem to be okay.
I’ll send a post to the other forum. Should I copy everything discussed in this forum to https://purothemes.com/support/?
Originally you mentioned:
2. The footer on all my pages are gone.
If you do not have the Footer Widgets option enabled in Page Settings then this is the reason the footer on all pages is gone.
If you can just paste the original question and a link to this page we’ll be good to go.
