Customising Blog Page

I’m trying to create a custom template for my news (blog) page. I really just want to add a bit more space at the top, a title, and remove the ‘comments off’.

I’ve tried creating new templates from the archive.php, index.php, and page.php, re-naming them, setting ‘Template Name’ at the top, and selecting the template in the admin. Can anyone tell me where I’m going wrong??

I’m sorry, this seems a silly question but i’ve spent about 5 hrs on it and getting nowhere.

    Any help very much appreciated

Ok, I kinda managed by editing the index.php and then creating a loop-index.php file and editing that. I’m not sure this is the best way though? Shouldn’t I be able to create a copy of the index.php to edit? Anyway, it seems to work 🙂

If you want to assign the template to all of your posts (when shown in a list) then simply edit the category.php file in your template (you don’t need to put any template name in the header – this is done for building special page – not post – templates).

If your blog posts are in a certain category (eg blog) then you can change the way that this category is displayed by adding a category-blog.php file and changing this…
