    Thanks for the info. I did some tests on our test site with “Comment must be manually approved” checked on or off and “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” checked on or off and all options worked without returning any errors on the comment form.

    The only thing that sticks out is possibly another plugin conflict. Do you have any custom roles plugins installed?

    The best way to figure out what is going on is to deactivate your plugins one at a time and see if the problem goes away. Or before you go down that road you could just change your theme for a minute and see if the problem goes away, that would rule out a major factor first.

    Turning debug mode to false in your wp-config will solve this problem right now.
