custome template: how do I make it so others can leave comments?

I want people to be able to comment on blog posts–what do I need to have in place in order for that to happen?

Currently I’ve allowed Comments and pingbacks, but when you go to the page with the post there are no fields to leave comments/email/etc…

I’m really new to this, any help is appreciated thanks!
