Support » Plugin: Advanced Access Manager » Custom User Role Updates

  • I have cloned the Contributor role to a new custom role on my site. When a user is set to my new custom role I can no longer edit their details via the WP REST API.

The regular Subscriber role works just fine.

What would I need to change in my custom role to allow the WP REST API search for a user with a particular email address.

    https://mywebsite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/users?search=johnsmith@email.com

If I try this REST API request I get an empty Array []. If I set that user to a Subscriber Role, I can get all the details I’m after.

  • I should also stipulate that I am using Application Password plugin for doing the Basic Authentication when making the API calls and if I deactivate the AAM Plugin then everything works as I need, so there w=must be a setting I’m missing in AAM stopping me from making these API call as an Administrator via the REST API.

    Bump, any ideas any one?

I guess I’m trying to make changes to the API access – https://aamplugin.com/help#core-api but I’m not sure where to start.
